Limay River
The fishing season runs from November 1st to May 31st.
Born at the eastern end of Nahuel Huapi Lake, just 30 minutes (25 km / 15.5 miles) from downtown Bariloche, the Limay River is one of Patagonia's most iconic fly fishing destinations. Its crystal-clear waters, stable flows, and healthy populations of wild brown and rainbow trout make it an outstanding fishery for anglers of all experience levels.
Fishing Through the Season:
November – December: Fish become increasingly active after winter. Streamers, nymphs, and large attractor dry flies are all productive.
January – February: Warm weather brings excellent dry-fly fishing, especially during morning and evening hatches. Terrestrial patterns such as hoppers and beetles can be very effective.
March – May: Larger brown trout become more aggressive before spawning. Streamer fishing reaches its peak, while nymphs continue to produce consistently throughout the season. �

Manso River (lower section)
Fishing is permitted from November 1st to March 31st, although exact conditions may vary depending on river water levels each season.
The Lower Manso River is one of Patagonia's most scenic fly fishing destinations, flowing through the lush temperate rainforest of Nahuel Huapi National Park. Fishing is done from a self-bailing raft, allowing anglers to access productive runs and enjoy a unique floating experience through crystal-clear waters. The river is at its best from November to April, although exact fishing conditions and accessibility can vary depending on water levels and seasonal flows. Spring offers excellent dry fly fishing, while summer through early autumn provides outstanding opportunities with dry flies, nymphs, and streamers for wild Rainbow and Brown Trout. A key section of this adventure begins at Lago Steffen, with access by vehicle from Bariloche taking approximately 67 km (42 miles) and around 2 hours depending on road and weather conditions. The float continues downstream, entering at Lago Steffen and finishing at the confluence with the Villegas River. A perfect destination for anglers of all experience levels.
